What is GST?
GST is a comprehensive indirect tax that replaced multiple cascading taxes levied by the central and state governments. It was introduced in India on July 1, 2017. GST is divided into three components:
- CGST (Central GST): Collected by the Central Government on intra-state sales
- SGST (State GST): Collected by the State Government on intra-state sales
- IGST (Integrated GST): Collected by the Central Government on inter-state sales

GST Calculation Formulas

- Total Amount = Original Amount + GST Amount
To Remove GST (Inclusive):
- Original Amount = Total Amount × [100 / (100 + GST%)]
- GST Amount = Total Amount - Original Amount
CGST and SGST Breakdown
For intra-state transactions, GST is split equally between CGST and SGST:
